What Are Active Grille Shutters? Ford’s Active Grille Shutters are an innovative feature designed to enhance vehicle efficiency and performance. These shutters are located in the front grille of the vehicle and automatically open or close based on driving conditions. When closed, they reduce aerodynamic drag, improving fuel efficiency. When open, they allow airflow to cool the engine and other components. This smart technology is especially beneficial for drivers in Stephenville, TX, where varying weather conditions can impact vehicle performance. By optimizing airflow, Active Grille Shutters help ensure your Ford operates at peak efficiency, whether you’re cruising on the highway or navigating local roads. more Read the rest of this entry » How Do Active Grille Shutters Improve Efficiency? The primary function of Ford’s Active Grille Shutters is to manage airflow to reduce drag and improve aerodynamics. When the shutters close, they create a smoother surface at the front of the vehicle, allowing air to flow more efficiently around it. This reduces resistance and can lead to noticeable fuel savings over time. For example, during highway driving or in cold weather, the shutters remain closed to maintain optimal engine temperature and reduce drag. In contrast, during low-speed driving or hot weather, the shutters open to allow maximum airflow for cooling. This dynamic adjustment ensures that your Ford vehicle delivers both performance and efficiency no matter the conditions.
